Softeco Sismat Srl is a mid-size, highly innovative SME (about 240 staff, 2010) and solution provider in several business sectors, including industry, telecommunications, services, finance, security and government. Company solutions, products and services address several industrial and business sectors, including: transport and traffic networks management, infomobility, e-Business and e-Work/m-Work solutions in different industrial sectors (e.g. shipping, automotive etc.) and service markets (e.g. infomobility, transport, tourism and travel, logistics, health care etc.), mission-critical solutions for the industry, public and private organisations (e.g. energy production and distribution networks, environmental monitoring and protection, finance, public administration).

In the transport innovation sector, Softeco supply advanced ITS solutions to support the implementation and operation of sustainable transport and mobility applications, including traffic and infomobility services; public transport service planning, operation and management; freight and e-logistics schemes.

With a strong innovation-oriented market approach, Softeco have longstanding experience in RTD initiatives gained through involvement in several EU initiatives,  with participation to 40+ EU projects, starting from the EC JRCs’ programs and 3rd FP  onwards, and a network of collaborating partners of more than 150 organisations in Europe, including research centres, universities and industries.

Recent (FP7, FP6) involvement in the area of transport innovation include: ACCESSIBLE (FP7, ICT, STREP) addressing accessibility issues in advanced Service Oriented Architectures and systems, including transport applications; CONNECT Coordination Action (FP6-PLT-506959; ICT solutions for flexible, demand responsive transport schemes) CIVITAS II Integrated Project CARAVEL (IP 513553) addressing several innovative ICT services for flexible mobility and city distribution in Genoa (DRT and car pooling schemes), Stuttgart, Burgos, Krakow (DRT scheme), eMOTION (STREP, FP6-TREN-019939-SUSTDEV) addressing interoperability and integration issues for Europe-wide multimodal on-trip traveller information services, CEDM (LIFE-ENVT/IT/000870) addressing the development and pilot implementation of an advanced ICT system for planning and operation of a Centre for Eco-frienldy City Distribution services.  Previous relevant project in the area of innovative transport solutions include: COSTE (eContent, EDC-4130/28459), FAMS (FP5, IST-2001-34347), eDRUL (FP5, IST-2001-34241), INVETE (FP4, IST-1999-10311), SAMPLUS (FP3, TAP TR2043), SAMPO (FP3, TAP TR1046).
